In accordance with Sections 22(4), 22(5), 34(10) and 34(10.4) of the Planning Act, Application for Official Plan Amendment File OPA 2016-01 and Zoning Bylaw Amendment File ZBA 2016-02 were deemed complete by Town of Mono Council on the 22nd day of August, 2017 by Resolution #11-12-2017.

THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of these applications is to obtain required land use designation(s) and zoning classification(s) that would permit a proposed Class “A” Category 3 Aggregate Extraction Pit Licenced Operation on the above lands, abutting the south side of Highway 89 between 3rd and 4th Lines in the Town of Mono.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, and all other supporting documentation, are available for public viewing during regular office hours at the Municipal Administration office at 347209 Mono Centre Road.

TOWN OF MONO PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE will review these applications TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5th, 2017 at 7:30 P.M. at the Town of Mono Council Chambers located at 347209 Mono Centre Road, 4 kms east of Highway #10/24.

Any person or agency may attend PEAC Meetings and/or make written or verbal submissions either in support of, or in opposition to, the proposed Applications. Please note: PEAC only provides recommendations to Council, based on the merits of Applications; PEAC does not make statutory decisions.

A STATUTORY PUBLIC COUNCIL MEETING will be held on at a future date, notice of which will be circulated as required.

Disaster Recovery Assistance Announced

On August 3rd the province announced that it would be activating its Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program due to the flooding that occurred on June 23rd.

Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians helps victims of natural disasters get back on their feet. It offers financial assistance to help cover emergency expenses, clean-up expenses and costs to repair or replace essential property.

The program was activated in areas affected by the June 2017 flooding in the municipalities of Minto, Mapleton, Woolwich, New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio, Mono and Grand Valley.

The program covers the essentials only for example, furnaces and hot water heaters. It does not cover costs such as refinishing basement recreation rooms and does not pay for items that are covered through an insurance policy.

The program has been activated in specific areas affected by flooding within Mono.

Homeowners must submit their application to the province within 120 calendar days from the date Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians was activated. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, December 1, 2017.

What information do I need to provide with my application?

If you are eligible under the program, you should submit a complete and signed application form with support documentation. Signatures are required on pages 3 and 5 of the application form. You must also attach:

  1. A letter from your insurance provider detailing your level of coverage.
  2. Receipts or invoices for the costs you have incurred, and detailed estimates for any costs you have not yet incurred.
  3. A copy of your driver’s license to prove that the property is your primary address.
  4. If you are a homeowner, a copy of your most recent property tax bill or other documentation to establish your ownership of the property.

What happens after I submit?

Within two weeks, you will receive a notification that your application has been received. An adjuster may contact you to ask questions or request more documentation. To ensure a prompt review, make sure your application is complete and attach all required documents before you submit it.

Hwy 10 Road Construction

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has commenced construction on Hwy 10 which is expected to continue through to the Fall of 2019. The work consists of grading, drainage, granular base & paving.

There will be lane closures throughout the construction area during most of the work.

Construction operations shall be carried out in such a manner as to maximize safety and minimize disruption to traffic flow and operation. Construction noise levels will be based upon a variety of factors such as time and location of operation, size and concurrent use of equipment and staging of construction. Standard noise mitigation measures pertaining to equipment maintenance and operation have been implemented as part of the contract package. The measures in place shall prevent unnecessary noise and restrict the idling of equipment.
